Diocese of Dallas Safe Environment Program

As Christian adults, we have a moral and legal responsibility and are entrusted by God with the spiritual, emotional, and physical well-being of minors and vulnerable adults. As they participate in activities within or sponsored by our Diocese, it is our responsibility and commitment to provide a safe and nurturing environment.

For New Volunteers (Must be a parishioner for at least six months):
-Complete the Diocese of Dallas Screening Form through Virtus online.
-Attend an initial, in-person Safe Environment training session.
-Consent to a criminal background check.
-Provide three personal references, name, address, phone number, and email (No Family Members) IMPORTANT: THEY WILL BE CONTACTED BY EMAIL

For Returning Volunteers:
The Diocese of Dallas is now using Virtus for the Safe Environment trainings and database. All the volunteers who had accounts created before August 1, 2025, with Setanet, had their "file" transferred into VirtusOnline.org.

The Safe Environment training will continue to be required yearly. To renew safe environment trainings at the new site, please visit VIRTUSOnline.org. All renewing volunteers will be completing "Protecting God's Children 4.0". A new renewal video will be assigned starting, August 1, 2026.

Virtus login User ID's should be the volunteer's email address. Select "I NEED LOGIN HELP" to have a password reset sent to the volunteer or contact the SEO.

St. Michael Safe Environment In-Person Class Registration for Volunteers

Please make sure you register online before you attend class. Registration is different from filling out a screening form. By registering for the class, materials can be ready for you. Please arrive at your class session on time. Anyone who is six (6) minutes late will no longer be eligible for the class and will need to re-register.

- Please register for class! With the new database, Virtus, all in-person classes are for both initial and renewal trainings. The class, Protecting God's Children 4.0, is a minimum of three hours. After the class if the volunteer is new/initial person, please be prepared to bring something to do while waiting to be interviewed. No one under 18 is allowed. If you arrive more than 5 minutes late you will not receive credit for the class. Babysitting is NOT available. Your photo will be taken after class is completed (regardless of a badge need).
